Accounting Assistant – Law Firm (Part-Time)
Location: Kelowna BC
Compensation: $45,000 – $50,000 Annually
Schedule: 4 days/week · 7 hours/day · Flexibility during peak periods
Are you an organized, detail-driven accounting professional looking for a part-time opportunity in a collaborative, professional environment? We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to support our busy accounting department in a well-established law firm. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals and an understanding of legal trust accounting.
You’ll work closely with another Accounting Assistant and provide coverage during absences or vacation. Flexibility to work extra hours during year-end or reporting periods is appreciated.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage trust accounting in compliance with law society regulations
Handle accounts payable and receivable processes
Process government remittances (PST, GST, HST, WCB, EHT)
Administer payroll and employee benefits
Reconcile trust and general bank accounts
Manage credit card reconciliations
Support billings and collections activities
Perform data entry and disbursement posting
Complete Law Society reporting, including Trust Administration Fee (TAF) filings
Qualifications:
Experience in legal accounting and PC Law software an asset
Strong computer and data entry skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage sensitive financial data with discretion and accuracy
